Star Wars The Acolyte Teaser Trailer: A Prequel to the Prequels

Lucasfilm’s Star Wars live-action Disney+ series, “The Acolyte,” has officially revealed its cast and plot details. During the Star Wars Celebration event in London, show creator Leslye Headland described “The Acolyte” as a “Frozen meets Kill Bill” story set before the prequels during a time when “the bad guys are outnumbered. They are the underdogs.”

The cast of “The Acolyte” includes a star-studded lineup of Amandla Stenberg, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Carrie Anne Moss, Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae, and Joonas Suotamo. Suotamo, who previously played Chewbacca in “Solo,” will now take on the role of a Wookie Jedi master in “The Acolyte.”

During the event, Headland showcased exclusive footage for the room, revealing the show’s premise. The teaser footage revealed a class of young students in a Jedi temple, a scene in which Moss fights Stenberg, and a shot of a group of Jedis brandishing their lightsabers. Lee Jung-jae, who is known for his breakout role in “Squid Game,” expressed his excitement for the show, stating, “It was my first time touching a lightsaber, and I’m still shaking from the experience. I’m also a fanatic of Star Wars. My heart is jumping as part of the Star Wars family and joining you today.”

Amandla Stenberg, who was cosplaying as Padme during the event, also shared her enthusiasm for her role in “The Acolyte.” She stated, “I’ve always been a huge Star Wars fan, and it’s such an honor to be a part of this universe. My character is strong and dynamic, and I’m excited to bring her to life on screen.”

Dafne Keen, who is best known for her role in “Logan,” also expressed her excitement for the show, stating, “I’ve always been a huge Star Wars fan, and it’s a dream come true to be a part of this franchise. I’m excited to see where this journey takes us.”

“The Acolyte” is set to debut on Disney+ in 2024.
