Far be it from me to rain on anything that makes you less broody. HOWEVER.
I think Apple is overhyping something that basically just works out to be a fun device. I think their ads should just keep it real and be like:
“Look, its a neat little gadget. Its not going to be HAL, if it asks you “Do. You. Want. To. Play. A. Game.” it just means Battleship, and no renegade soldiers are coming from the future to destroy it before it can become freethinking. At best if you have it you can look a little less like a deadbeat while you sit in Starbucks ALL DAY with your free refills every hour, sifting through emails and trying be appear important despite the fact you’ve been in Starbucks ALL DAY. Girls might be drawn to it, but most likely the girls who are really into it probably already have one. You’d probably have better luck with a dog. Girls are always drawn to those, even if they already have one. So, the iPad. Its nice. But don’t get carried away, c’mon. Its not a kidney in a cooler. More like a little restalyne. So, calm down.”
