Prolific Lost showrunner, Carlton Cuse, along with his son Nick Cuse, is venturing into the realm of Star Wars. The two are in the initial stages of developing a Star Wars series for Lucasflim, according to insiders who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter.

Carlton Cuse has an impressive portfolio that includes notable TV series like Bates Motel, The Strain, Jack Ryan, and Netflix’s latest medical drama, Pulse. His son, Nick Cuse, has collaborated with his father’s Lost co-showrunner Damon Lindelof on popular shows like Watchmen and The Leftovers. Nick’s resume also boasts of Station Eleven and Masters of the Air.

The specifics about this new Star Wars series have not yet been disclosed.

This announcement coincides with the premiere of the second season of Andor and follows the Star Wars Celebration held recently in Tokyo. At the event, Lucasfilm provided a sneak peek at the feature film The Mandalorian & Grogu and released the title of Shawn Levy’s upcoming movie with Ryan Gosling, Star Wars: Starfighter. They also shed light on the details of Ashoka’s second season, including the much-anticipated return of Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen.

The early success of The Mandalorian in 2019 helped Disney+ establish its presence in the market. Since then, however, Lucasfilm and its sibling company, Marvel Studios, have reduced their output of TV series. In the past, new shows from both companies were regularly announced as part of the intense rivalry among streaming services. The current reserved approach means the news of a possible Cuse show marks the first time in a while that a new live-action Star Wars series has grabbed public attention.
