– Robert Pattinson is reportedly being considered for the role of the main villain in Dune: Messiah, directed by Denis Villeneuve.
– Although no official offer has been made, Pattinson’s involvement could result in an on-screen showdown with Timothée Chalamet.
– Dune: Messiah is expected to start filming this summer and is due for release on December 18, 2026.

Reports suggest that Robert Pattinson may give stiff competition to Timothée Chalamet in Legendary’s upcoming movie, Dune: Messiah. Pattinson is rumored to be considering the main antagonist’s role in the film, potentially the character Scytale from Frank Herbert’s acclaimed series.

As of now, no formal proposal has been extended to Pattinson, a busy actor with prominent roles in upcoming films such as The Batman sequel by Matt Reeves, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

Pattinson would be joining the league of high-caliber talent attracted by Dune director, Denis Villeneuve. The first two installments of Dune showcased a stellar cast, boasting actors such as Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin, in addition to an ensemble of others. Despite releasing on streaming services simultaneously to theatres in 2021 during the global health crisis, Villeneuve’s first Dune installment grossed $410 million internationally, with his second Dune movies in 2024 raking in an impressive $714.6 million.

Herbert’s “Messiah,” published in 1969, picks up the narrative from Dune 12 years later with Paul Atreides as the reigning Emperor. He is wed to Princess Irulan and simultaneously keeps his relationship with his consort, Chani.

Dune: Messiah is slated to begin production in the upcoming summer, with a planned release date of December 18, 2026, by Warner Bros. This film is likely to be Villeneuve’s last Dune project before he shifts his focus to other endeavors.

Legendary, the production company, has not released a statement regarding the potential casting of Pattinson. His recent work includes a leading role in Mickey 17 for Warner Bros.
