I was so excited to read this. I think it’s a great idea. Though I was kind of disappointed in the review. It almost seemed like this person HAD seen the films before, I can’t put my finger on it. Or at least was so influenced by friends who had, that he spoke more about typical fan moments than any unique point of view. I wish it were more detailed and articulate. Seems strange to watch all six films and not even mention the overlapping Vader arc. After all, to this person the whole story really should have been about Vader.
What would have been even more interesting would be to have had a man, child (or man-child) and woman watch it, just to see what the different reactions would be.
Ultimately this experiment fizzled.
Agreed. I like the experiment; it’s a good idea, but he’s too clued in. I mean, he went to a Star Wars wedding! You know though, there are plenty of THERM-esque guys in high school that have never seen Star Wars, and I’d love to hear their take – I think in EW’s case, they probably found it hard to find one who could actually string a sentence together.
