“After enduring the horrifying events at Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya proceed to a nearby excavation site following Gabriel Krafft’s final words to secure the Sentinel Artifact,” states a summary of the storyline by Treyarch. “Built on ancient burial grounds believed to date back to 2500 B.C.E., these catacombs remained undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s… and what lies beneath may be even more profound than anyone could have ever imagined.”

The development team describes The Tomb as an enigmatic location associated with a British archaeologist named Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, yet they reveal little about how it might tie into the broader Zombies narrative. In terms of gameplay, this new setting promises an experience akin to that of Liberty Falls, an intimate, vibrant town map that debuted with Black Ops 6 in October. Treyarch explains that players can anticipate tighter play spaces with enhanced replayability, as they uncover the multitude of hidden Easter eggs concealed within The Tomb.

Furthermore, Treyarch tantalizes fans with hints about a reconstructed Wonder Weapon that draws inspiration from past iterations, as well as the return of an iconic submachine gun. However, the studio remains secretive about specific details concerning these additions.

Season 2 also brings a plethora of quality-of-life enhancements, fulfilling the desires of the community that have been expressed since the game’s launch. For instance, players will have the ability to track up to 10 Calling Card challenges and 10 Camo challenges, both in Zombies and Multiplayer modes. Additionally, Zombies mode will introduce a co-op pause option, allowing the party leader to temporarily halt a match in progress. HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separately customizable in Season 2, and the studio pledges to enable players to rejoin Zombies matches with their preferred loadout if they are removed from the session.
