For Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Kyriana Kratter, life has imitated art in more ways than one. Created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, the Disney+ Star Wars series follows the adventures of four 10-year-old kids who discover a starship and find themselves on a cosmic journey. Kratter plays KB, a character with cybernetic enhancements, and she has found similarities between herself and her character. In episode six, directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, KB learns to speak up, and Kratter found herself learning to do the same on set. She gained confidence and asked for different takes, leading to a stronger performance. The bond between Kratter and her castmates, especially Ryan Kiera Armstrong who plays Fern, mirrors the friendship between their characters. The foursome became close friends during filming, and their genuine connection translated onscreen. Kratter and Armstrong’s off-camera friendship allowed them to be more comfortable and authentic with each other on set. KB’s character arc reaches a pivotal point in episode six when she confronts Fern for disregarding her advice and putting her life in danger. This confrontation had been building up throughout the series, and Kratter portrayed KB’s frustration and anger with nuance. Kratter’s own shyness also resonated with KB’s character, and she found it empowering to see KB’s growth and assertiveness. The actress also revealed that KB’s visor serves different purposes, both as a tool to see and analyze things and as a way to hide when she feels scared. While KB is still a real girl, her cybernetic enhancements make it harder for her to make friends. Kratter’s performance as KB has been well-received, and fans are eagerly awaiting the final two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. As for Kratter’s cryptic tease for the finale, she simply said “death,” leaving fans guessing about what might happen next.
