I’ve Officially Entered the Digital Age
Behold… JANITOR WARS!!!
At long last, I’ve learned how to capture video and distribute it to the unworthy cretins of the Internet. I’m only about five years late.
So this is my student film, Janitor Wars. Filmed on a 16mm non-sync sound camera in 1994, cut and spliced on a moviola and sound mixed from 9 tracks of magnetic tape. In other words, all the technology used to make this lasted for 100 years and then became obsolete as soon as I learned it. All of the animation in the titles was drawn and filmed frame by frame.
Ladies and gentlemen, I did this the HARD way.
I love this movie. And it’s a good example of why I’m a writer, not an editor. Almost every shot is too long. But it’s hard to cut such raw, pure genius.
JW is cool. I’m sorry about it being buried at the box office by Gump and Lion King, though. Perhaps you should have released it later that summer, when it would have been able to shine up against more disposable fare such as The Little Rascals.
Yeah, the disappointing box office is the reason I never finished the sequel, JW2: The Plunging Avenger.
I love this!! And I respect the struggle! Though, when the title first came up, I thought it said “Jew”.
What’s the music from? Sounds like Terminator!
Believe it or not, the music is original. An Ithaca student named Kent Clelland did the music for me. I’ve always wanted to add his name to the credits, but I haven’t been able to. Once I get Final Cut up and running, I’m going to do a JW special edition and finally add his name.
LOVE IT!!! The music kicks ass, John Carpenter would be proud. This is actually really fun. SOOOO glad you decided to post – I can’t wait to see what other videos make it onto EG from your past…
Love the FX and lighting – it’s like a Jim Wynorski movie! Please wear that costume to my wedding, lol.
Hugh, as if I needed another reason to hug you.
