The event’s world premiere, attended by the main cast including Emma Myers and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, took place in London’s Leicester Square. The film is adapted from the renowned video game and follows four misfits transported into a wonderland thriving on imagination. Jack Black takes on the role of the beloved character Steve.

The film is inspired from the famous video game, Minecraft, and follows the adventurous journey of four unusual characters, who unpredictably enter a colorful, cubic world through a mysterious portal. In order to return to their own world, they must adapt to the peculiarities of the cubic universe and set out on a daring expedition with a surprise, expert builder. Black’s character is that of the renowned ‘Steve’.

The Hollywood Reporter interviewed the actors Momoa and Black at the premier, who expressed the need for ‘A Minecraft Movie’ in current times. Black quoted Burt Bacharach’s popular song, “What the world needs now is love, sweet love,” by emphasizing the importance of unity amidst a world filled with violence and hate. Referring to the film, he mentioned its creative content, love-filled story and themes of friendship and teamwork.

Adding to this, he complimented the director, Jared Hess, for his creative abilities and expressed admiration for the cast members. Black also shared his unexpected joy at Jennifer Coolidge becoming a part of the cast.

Momoa, the lead actor of Aquaman, supported Black’s views, acknowledging the need for a break and some laughter amidst trying times. However, he humorously commented against working with Black again, describing it as an unfavourable experience.

To reassure the faithful Minecraft fans about the film, Momoa expressed his hope for another film if fans would accept the current one. He confidently mentioned about bringing the game’s world to life.

On the other hand, Brooks confessed about her lack of expertise in playing Minecraft, but mentioned her five-year-old daughter’s interest in it. She also expressed a feeling of regret for not growing up with video games and the joy this film brings by reminding one of their childhood.

Hansen, a newcomer, shared his excitement about his unexpected role in the film and how the more experienced actors taught him the importance of having fun.

Producer Cale Boyter described ‘A Minecraft Movie’ as a film that will remind viewers of their youth, a perfect destination to escape from the real world and enter a world full of possibilities.
