Nearly seven years post-Daredevil’s cancelation on Netflix, Daredevil: Born Again is set for a rebound. Nonetheless, the journey to this point hasn’t been plain sailing. The series faced a halt and a full revamp of its creative team owing to actors’ and writers’ strikes and consultations after three seasons on Netflix and a revival plan at Disney. Dario Scardapane headlined this new team as the showrunner, along with Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson assuming directorial roles – a decision influenced by the apprehensions expressed by stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox concerning the future course of the series with Marvel.

The stars lauded the company’s active reorientation of the direction of the series. Cox expressed his admiration for the company’s readiness to consider their input and action towards improvement. He appreciated the enormity of resources required for such a significant shift and voiced his satisfaction with the final product at the show’s New York debut.

D’Onofrio shared similar sentiments, acknowledging the overwhelming support they received from the company’s hierarchy to the ground staff. Special mention went to the fans whose supportive voices played a critical role in realising the project, according to Cox.

The revived series portrays the characters of Matt Murdock (Cox), a sightless lawyer seeking justice, and ex-crime boss Wilson Fisk (D’Onofrio) running his mayoral affairs in New York City. Cox acknowledged his co-star’s optimism in the continuity of the show and expressed his own disbelief at the project’s actualisation after years of hiatus.

Scardapane, a veteran screenwriter renowned for his work in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and The Punisher, acknowledged the pressure that came with resuming a show amid global expectation. The showrunner spoke about the uphill task of creating a fitting narrative from the available material while expressing his excitement at the challenge.

With much delight, he described the thrill of transitioning from doubt to certainty in the new direction of the series and eventual success on the screen. Shortly after, he mentioned the commencement of the shooting for the second season.

In other news, Jon Bernthal is set to restore his character, anti-hero Frank Castle, famously known as the Punisher, for a special airing simultaneously with the series’ second season in 2026. As announced by Marvel Television and Disney, Bernthal will also make an appearance in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again to be available for streaming on Disney+ starting March 4.
