The short preview, although not greatly informative about the narrative, is set to stoke the excitement of fans, keeping them eagerly anticipated for the release on June 27, 2025. The project is a collaboration of Blumhouse Productions, Atomic Monster, and Divide/Conquer Production. The trailer showcases the murderous yet charismatic doll, M3GAN, strutting towards the camera and provocatively asking the viewers, “Miss me?”

The sequel draws upon the original star cast with Allison Williams reprising her role as Gemma, a roboticist at a toy firm who brought the AI doll M3GAN to life, and Violet McGraw returning as Cady, Gemma’s niece. Other well-known actors include Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari. Notably, the cast also ropes in the gifted Kiwi comic, Jemaine Clement.

With the teaser, the studio also discreetly revealed some plot details about M3GAN 2.0. The storyline moves on from two years after M3GAN’s escapades. Consequentially, Gemma, the creator of M3GAN, has elevated to the status of a renowned author and fervent advocate for government supervision of AI technology. Parallelly, Cady sloughs off her youthful innocence, stepping into the rebellious phase of teenage, irking Gemma’s protective nature. Underlining the main plot, a covert operation ensues where M3GAN’s technology is unlawfully appropriated by a potent defence contractor, leading to the creation of an AI weapon named Amelia. As expected, Amelia refuses to toe the line, thereby forcing Gemma to resurrect M3GAN, this time with a multitude of enhancements to combat Amelia and salvage humanity.

Director Gerard Johnstone and writer Akela Cooper are once again teaming together for this sequel. The movie boasts of a high-profile production team that includes James Wan, Jason Blum and Allison Williams. Gerard Johnstone, upon sharing the producer’s seat, also holds the executive producer’s credit along with Adam Hendricks, Greg Gilreath, Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Mark D. Katchur.
