Sony’s February PlayStation State of Play Event Rumors – Are the Leaks True?

– Sony is reportedly hosting a PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week, potentially featuring updates on first-party games like Ghost of Yotei and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
– Third-party announcements could include potential reveals of games like Phantom Blade Zero and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle coming to PS5.
– Microsoft’s presence in the PlayStation ecosystem may lead to announcements like Halo coming to PlayStation.

Sony is rumored to be gearing up for its traditional February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week. Leaker NateTheHate, known for accurately predicting the date of Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal, hinted at a State of Play happening during Valentine’s Day week (February 10 to 14).

The speculation is running wild! What surprises could Sony have in store for this year’s State of Play? Let’s take a look at the first-party games that have been announced and are slated for release in 2025. Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei is set for a 2025 release window, so a fresh look at gameplay and a release date could be on the cards. Additionally, Bungie’s PvP extraction shooter Marathon might make an appearance if playtesting is still on track for this year. Haven Studios’ debut title, Fairgames, and Naughty Dog’s new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, are also possibilities. Insomniac is hard at work on Marvel’s Wolverine, and fans might be treated to a new trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, scheduled for release in 2025.

Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t expect to see the live service games that Sony recently canceled. Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games were reportedly working on unannounced live-service games that were axed. However, there is speculation that Guerrilla Games’ live service Horizon game may make an appearance at the State of Play for a long-awaited reveal.

When it comes to third-party announcements, Kojima’s stealth-action title, Physint, and S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero, a hack-and-slash RPG, could be showcased. Additionally, with Microsoft now a major publisher of games on PlayStation, there is anticipation for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to receive a release date. Could we also see the announcement of Halo making its way to PlayStation?

Looking back at last year’s State of Play, featured games included Death Stranding 2, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, and various other exciting titles.
