As a protective supporter of Grant Gustin’s portrayal of The Flash, Cavanagh appreciated the intentional reduction of the IQ level in the film, which he believed contributed to making the character more innocent and unique. He emphasized the importance of avoiding repeating what had already been done in the decade-long television series, implying that the movie took a fresh approach.

Although Cavanagh’s praise seemed to be primarily directed at the first half of the film, he acknowledged the considerable effort required in the latter half, which relied heavily on digital effects and showcased the recreation of older DC characters. The Flash film faced significant criticism from both critics and audiences, resulting in a lackluster performance at the box office. Subsequently, the movie and the entire DCEU seem to have been discontinued, as DC Studios is now moving forward with a revamped cinematic universe known as the DCU.
