Focus Features, the art house division of Universal, will once again partner with Eggers for this thrilling venture, with a planned release on Christmas Day in 2026.

Initially considering a black and white visual aesthetic for “Werwulf,” Eggers has now abandoned the idea. However, fans can still expect a deep exploration of a muddied and violent historical period, reminiscent of Eggers’ previous works. With a loyal following, he has established himself as a filmmaker unafraid to immerse audiences in the authenticity of his chosen settings.

Both Eggers and Sjón will produce the film alongside Focus Features, while Chris and Eleanor Columbus, who collaborated with Eggers on “Nosferatu,” will serve as executive producers.
