Fahy plays Violet, a widowed mother reentering the dating world, while Sklenar portrays Henry, her date for the evening. However, their pleasant evening takes a sinister turn when Violet receives cryptic texts instructing her to kill Henry or face the death of her son. Directed by Christopher Landon and written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, Drop promises intense suspense and a gripping narrative. The film is slated to hit theaters on April 11.

Universal and Blumhouse’s latest thriller, “Drop,” unveiled its highly anticipated trailer this week, giving viewers a glimpse into a hair-raising first date for Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar’s characters.

Fahy, known for her roles in “The White Lotus” and “The Perfect Couple,” portrays Violet, a widowed mother attempting to navigate the treacherous waters of dating once again. After years away from the scene, she cautiously agrees to a fancy restaurant rendezvous with Henry, played by Sklenar, recognized for his appearances in “It Ends with Us” and “Yellowstone: 1923.”

However, their seemingly innocent night takes a sinister turn when Violet finds herself bombarded with threatening text messages. The chilling texts demand that she kill her date, or else her beloved son will face a gruesome fate.

The official synopsis teases: “Their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet experiences irritation and terrorization through a series of anonymous messages received on her phone. She is forbidden from seeking help or confiding in anyone, as an ominous figure lurking in the shadows threatens to harm Violet’s young son and her sister, who is babysitting. To ensure the safety of her loved ones, Violet must follow the tormentor’s twisted instructions. The final directive? Kill Henry.”

Christopher Landon, renowned for his work on “Happy Death Day,” “Freaky,” and “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,” takes the reins as director. Penning the gripping screenplay are Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, known for their contributions to “Truth or Dare” and “Fantasy Island.” Joining the talented cast are Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, and Ed Weeks.

Producing “Drop” are industry heavyweights Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller, while Sam Lerner and Ron Lynch take on the role of executive producers.
