In August 2024, we had the incredible opportunity to try out this game ahead of its release, and what we discovered was truly promising. Especially for those seeking a more relaxed gaming experience without constant punishment. And now, in February, all curious shooter fans will have the chance to enter the world of Exoborne themselves, as it embarks on its first-ever public playtest.

Sharkmob has been conducting closed online and studio tests for quite some time, but this large-scale playtest marks a significant milestone for them. Executive producer, Brynley Gibson, expressed his excitement, stating, “By entering this stage of open collaboration with the community, we’re eager to gather invaluable insights and feedback that will drive us to elevate the game to new heights.”

Speaking of “new heights,” Exoborne is expected to take the gaming experience to unparalleled levels. As we mentioned in our preview, this game is all about verticality. Imagine zipping around with a grappling hook or utilizing a chargeable power-jump every few seconds, only to gracefully glide back down using a redeployable parachute. The exhilaration and freedom of movement are unlike anything seen before.

While it is unfortunate that Sharkmob’s previous game, Vampire: The Masquerade–Bloodhunt, didn’t resonate with audiences and ended development in 2023, there is hope that Exoborne will capture that same magic. I personally enjoyed Bloodhunt’s perfect blend of weaponry, special abilities, high mobility, and longer time to eliminate opponents. Though the setting may not be as captivating this time around, if the gameplay aligns, I am confident that the excitement will quickly overshadow any reservations.
