Season 2 of “Severance” on Apple TV+ Delivers Even More Shocking Surprises and Intrigue

– The first episode of “Severance” season 2 continues the mysteries from season 1 and takes place solely within the Lumon office.
– Keanu Reeves makes an uncredited cameo as the voice of the Lumon building in an animated corporate video.
– Comedian Sarah Sherman also has a brief cameo as a water tower in the same video, and other notable actors have joined the cast for season 2.

Apple TV+ presents the highly anticipated second season of “Severance” with the first episode picking up right where the explosive finale of season 1 left off. Rather than providing instant answers, the episode delves deeper into the intriguing mysteries established in the previous season. Set entirely within the Lumon office, viewers are completely immersed in the world of the characters, with no glimpses of the outside world or their activities. The only clues are given through the expositions provided to Mark S. (played by Adam Scott) and his gang, who learn that their temporary escape in season 1 catapulted them to fame and brought about significant reforms in the treatment of severed employees.

To recap the events of the season 1 finale, an animated corporate instructional video is shown to the Macrodata Refinement (MDR) team upon their return to the office. It is worth noting that fans of “The Matrix” or “John Wick” may have recognized a familiar voice at the beginning of this scene. The narrator of the video, who anthropomorphizes the Lumon building, is unmistakably voiced by Keanu Reeves. While Reeves remains uncredited for this role, his iconic voice is undeniably recognizable. He most recently lent his voice to Shadow the Hedgehog in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”. Series creator Dan Erickson even dropped hints about Reeves’ involvement in a recent interview with /Film, further fueling speculation.

In the same interview, when asked about Reeves’ cameo, Erickson playfully feigned ignorance by responding, “I certainly have no idea what you could be talking about. I’m not actually familiar with that actor.” He then cheekily asked, “Is that the guy from ‘The Lake House?'” While it is unlikely that Reeves will return in a larger role, his appearance in the training video adds an element of the absurd to the show. The video itself raises numerous questions, portraying the innies’ escape as both a violent uprising termed the “Macrodat Uprising” and a moment of great influence that the company appreciates. The reforms implemented as a result represent marginal progress for innie rights, but their impact seems minimal. The company appears to exploit the negative publicity of the escape to create a new image as benevolent corporate overlords.

Reeves is not the only notable cameo in the peculiar Lumon video. Comedian Sarah Sherman, known for her work on “Saturday Night Live,” briefly appears as the voice of a water tower at the end of the instructional video. Unlike Reeves, she is properly credited for her contribution. As the popularity and acclaim of “Severance” grow, it seems to have attracted established names in Hollywood. Season 2 introduces character actors Bob Balaban and Alia Shawkat as temporary MDR replacements, as well as the announcement that “Game of Thrones” alum Gwendoline Christie will be joining the show. With Reeves’ uncredited role, it leaves room for speculation about hidden cameos in future episodes, adding another layer of mystery for devoted “Severance” fans to enjoy.
