Five Nights at Freddy’s Teaser: Josh Hutcherson Takes On Fazbear!
Blumhouse has released the first teaser for the much-anticipated adaptation of the popular horror video game “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” The film is set to hit theaters and Peacock on October 27, offering fans an on-screen interpretation of the game’s thrilling narrative.
In this upcoming adaptation, “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson steps into the shoes of a beleaguered security guard working the night shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a twisted rendition of a family-friendly entertainment center. The teaser provides a glimpse into the guard’s first night, promising viewers a suspense-filled experience.
The trailer opens with a cheerful greeting to the new security guard, promising a place “where fantasy and fun come to life,” only to swiftly pivot to an eerie scene outside an abandoned building. One particularly chilling sequence shows Hutcherson’s character strapped into an electric chair, with a voiceover saying, “We’re going to have so much fun together.”
Joining Hutcherson are Matthew Lillard, known for his roles in “Scream” and the live-action “Scooby-Doo,” and Elizabeth Lail, who starred in Netflix’s “You.” The film is under the helm of Emma Tammi, whose directorial debut was the 2018 horror western “The Wind.”
The film adaptation remains faithful to the original game’s plot, which gained massive popularity following its 2014 release. The game centered around animatronics characters Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox, but it has since expanded its universe with additional characters.
The journey to bring “Five Nights at Freddy’s” to the big screen has been long. Announced in 2015 by Warner Bros. and initially produced by Vertigo Entertainment and KatzSmith Productions, the project eventually found its home at Blumhouse in association with Strike Entertainment.
Jason Blum, the head of Blumhouse, expressed his excitement for the project, saying, “Five Nights at Freddy’s is more consistently asked about than any other film I’ve ever worked on. We’re committed to making Scott’s vision of the movie come to life. Rest assured, it will be and is worth the wait.”
With the game’s dedicated fanbase and the recent teaser’s tantalizing promise of suspense and horror, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is expected to make a significant splash this Halloween season.
