Kosinski Stays With Disney For More Potential Awesomeness
The Hollywood Reporter informs us that Disney has indeed picked up OBLIVION, which will be based on a graphic novel Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski wrote with Radical publishing.
The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where humans live in the clouds above a ravaged Earth. The main character is a handyman named Jak who lives on the surface of the Earth and discovers a mysterious woman inside an escape pod. Kosinski himself explained that “It’s a love story that explores various themes ranging from identity to redemption. It’s a sci-fi adventure that spans two different worlds and two different times. It’s epic in terms of its scale and scope, but it’s a character driven story with a small cast.”
No word yet on when production begins or if Kosinski will jump right from this back into The Grid with the Tron follow up.
