An Extra EXTRAS!
IMDB News has word that Ricky Gervais is working on a one-hour special of his hit TV comedy Extras – despite previously announcing he had no plans to return to the show. Gervais made two series of the popular BBC show, which featured A-list cameos from Kate Winslet, David Bowie and Orlando Bloom. But although he wrapped the series in 2007, Gervais has drafted a “rough storyline” for an episode in which his character Andy Millman tries his hand at acting in Hollywood.
He tells British talk show This Morning, “We said we probably wouldn’t, we never said never, like The Office. I miss Extras more than The Office and also, I think it’s got more legs than The Office.
“We can go anywhere with it. We never ended it like The Office, it was quite open-ended.”
And the star realises he “has a lot to beat” with his forthcoming project – because he managed to sign guest stars including Robert De Niro to guest in the last series.
He adds: “I’ve got my sights set on a few people. Al Pacino, I’ve got a good idea for. I bumped into Danny DeVito and Michael Douglas at the (Joe) Calzaghe fight in New York. I said, ‘So do you want to do Extras? And he (DeVito) went ‘Yeah’ – and I said, ‘That’s legally binding’.”
YAY!!!!!!
I’m glad SOMEONE’S got some good ideas for Al Pacino, his camp seems kind of out of them as of late.
I say if they can top George Michael in the park (huh huh) then I’m all for it.
I missed his recent comedy special, but love the sound of this. I just wish we could get more Warwick.
