Alien Vs. Predator 2 Requiem Trailer

Share

Why are we not talking about this? I’m one of the few people to
actually LIKE the first AvP film. I love this trailer, for the random
shots of gore and violence, but I’m pessimistically unsure how all of
this comes together into a coherent movie. Christmas will tell, but
what’s not to like about Predators killing high school students, and
aliens burning and boring holes into their faces?

That’s what I said when I saw it!  I had no clue anyone else on EG watched Rescue Me.  I love that show!

I was SO excited for the first AvP.  In my eyes it could not really fail, so I was biased.  What I did not like was that it brought things to a B-movie level, though at least on the level with movies like RESIDENT EVIL, which are above-average in my opinion.  What worked about AvP was that clearly it had a love of the genre, the comic books, etc.

What I wanted was a Cameron-directed entry starring both Schwarzenegger and Weaver (and reportedly, Cameron DID want both actors to appear in an ALIEN sequel of his design, but as with T3 the studio balked at his schedule).

What I got was something on par with the better comic books.  The acting wasn’t so great, they wedged the Lance Henrikksen character into the mix, and some found the relationship between the main character (strong female, ripley type) and the Predator laughable.

I kind of liked it – though I suppose the ideas boded better than the execution.  The concept of the ancient temple didn’t quite work for me, though I did like a little dash of THE THING in my AvP.

Mostly I loved seeing a kick-ass quality Alien Queen square off in full CGI glory in T-Rex style battle mode, against a Predator.

Hey, I had fun, and the story held up a lot more than Freddy Vs. Jason (which was also fun, but took itself much less seriously.)

I have not yet watched this trailer but could not be more excited.  I can only hope Eric is in LA so we can see it together.  I don’t think any of my friends out here give a fat turd… 🙁

Now let’s buy Aliens horror clix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I roll acid spit and do 5d damage to your marine!!!!!!

Of course I’m going to pay money to see this flick, but I can’t help feeling sad that they turned two classic and original sci-fi baddies into cheap teenage thriller monsters.

You can just see some studio exec having said “I know these are both space monsters but we can save a few bucks shooting it in a forest instead. Maybe at a high school?”

    Sigh.

Saw the trailer – cannot wait to be one of the only people I know who enjoys this.  I really liked the trailer – what ever happened to film grain is all I have to say.  These movies today look like fucking cd covers and music videos.  GIVE ME SOME GRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I WANNA KNOW ITS A FILM, ugh.

    ps

    I love aliens
