Blades of Glory, Weeds: Season 1, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice

Saw these three recently…Spoiler at very end with plenty of warning.

Blades of Glory

I wasn’t going to see this..then I kept hearing good things.
Cybergosh insisted it was great and even though we rarely see eye to
eye on films, I gave it a try.  I’m glad I did.  I had a smile on my
face for 90 minutes. This is almost as good as “Talladega.”   I still think “Anchorman” sucks so bad..but whatever.

This is pure formula… very predicable, but who cares…had fun.  And it is great to see Will Arnett and Amy Poehler on screen together.  Jenna Fischer, James Gunn’s wife is very good..underutilized if anything.  I’ve seen her do
more comic material (“Lollilove”) and she is pretty funny.  Hopefully
she’s able to demonstrate that in her next film.  See this film..very
funny.

Weeds: 1st Season
A friend recommended this Showtime series.  The following comments in
no way reflect what I think of my friend’s taste in film and TV.  It
is simply an opinion.

This is one of the worst piece of shit series ever!!! Â Casting is
absolutely horrendous.  The writing is another case of a cable network
thinking, “hmmm, what alternative lifestyle /Â Â unique career can we
exploit this time?  We already covered the mafia, undertakers,
sluts…wait..I know!!  A white single mom pot dealer!!! We’ll make
millions!!”  Fuck you.

I made it to the third episode and returned both discs back to
Netflix.  I’m not wasting my time.

Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice

This is the type of film that is significant for the impact it had in
its time.  And it should be respected for its exploration of sexual
mores of the late sixties.  This was rare for American cinema of the
time.  So it should be seen for this reason.  However, I feel it has
aged a bit and may alienate some audiences.

As far as the acting goes, I really liked Elliot Gould, Dyan Cannon
and Natalie Wood.  Robert Culp on the other hand…seemed out of
place.  His acting seems old school compared to the other three.  But
speaking of Natalie Wood…

No wonder she produced this perfect specimen:

I did have a question though for those who’ve seen it….

having them all sleep together?
